Landscapes

Shifting shadows and dancing light fall across the landscape and the forms within it; the thin oil paint layered on and softened out or worked wet into wet describe this phenomenon. A Balloon ride, for example, is a silent voyeuristic experience; a view of a distorted world described by flattened, squashed perspective and long luxurious shadows. It is a moment of time paused and elongated and gradually unfolding and evolving with the shifting of shadows and shapes. Meanwhile the structures we build that meet the Sea and Sky are humbled and diminished next to Nature’s monumental presence.
